My Transportation

These are my "home mountains" and have been a real playground for the three years that I have lived near their base. A climb like this one was once a "long climb" for me, but now seems very manageable. I owe that to some good friends and former neighbors that made up my night time mountain bike crew for two solid years.

My old school hard tail, second-hand Cannondale F700 mongrel of a mountain bike has taken me many places and is a regular in this very spot. I’m usually up here at night time, so I never noticed the graffiti until this day.

The towers atop the peak in the upper left-hand corder are on Tongva peak, another spot that I regularly visit. It’s actually about 250 vertical feet higher than where I’m taking this shot from, but it looks to be the same height in is image.

This might be when one of our bikes broke a pannier frame. It was a lot of work pedaling those old bikes with all that camping gear.

The guy in the picture standing up is a high school friend of mine, who’s nicknamed "Levi Mark" due to his always wearing long jeans on rides. Notice the big silver buckle on his belt? Still he’s incredibly strong and usually can easily pass young riders just about anywhere, on mountain bikes that is.

The other fellow, Frank, was nearing 50 at the time. I thought that was old being about 30 then! Now it sure doesn’t seem so old anymore…
